Mockingbird Carolinas offers individual therapy sessions to clients in North and South Carolina ages 17+ with a focus on young and emerging adults as well as those experiencing trauma.
In-person sessions are available at our welcoming office in the Elizabeth Neighborhood of Charlotte, NC and virtual telehealth sessions are available via a secure, HIPAA complaint telehealth platform. Free 15-minute Consultation
As you begin your therapy journey, we are proud to offer a 15-minute consultation call to help you, whether that is with us or not.
During this call, we will help orient you to the therapeutic process, answer any questions you have, and learn more about what you are looking for in a counselor to ensure Mockingbird is the best fit for your needs.
If not, Mockingbird Carolinas will work towards connecting you with a therapist who is a good fit - we don't believe in leaving anyone hanging!
We know that it can take a lot to make that initial step in starting the counseling process, so we are here to support you and help you feel comfortable every step of the way!

Assessment, Treatment Plan, & Session Structure
If Mockingbird is a good fit for your therapy journey, the first session after your initial consultation is a 90-minute assessment where we will get to know one another better and collaborate in setting tailored goals and treatment plan for your counseling sessions, frequency, etc.
After the assessment, individual sessions are scheduled for 50 minutes with the exception of 30 minute check-ins.

Rooted in a trauma-informed approach, we work with you to collaboratively choose treatment methods that align with your unique needs, preferences, and comfort level. Discover more about our modalities below:
- Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT): This modality seeks to help clients learn to challenge negative thoughts, identify thinking patterns, and more through drawing connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): Therapy targeting negative beliefs, memories, and emotions that are associated with past traumatic experiences leveraging a series of eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation. - Music Therapy: Perrin Jones holds the MT-BC credential (Music Therapist-Board Certified) completing a rigorous curriculum, internships, and national board exam along with ongoing continuing education to maintain her credential. With Perrin's background in this area, you may collaboratively choose to incorporate evidence-based music activities to accomplish individualized goals in therapy.
- Psychoeducation on Neurobiology and Mental Health

- Registered Therapy Dog: Bean Jones is Perrin's French Bulldog and registered therapy dog with Therapy Dogs International. Bean loves people and is happy to bring a joyful, positive energy to sessions, where appropriate. He is available for in-office or walk-and-talk sessions upon request or an occasional cameo via telehealth.
